Connie Peterson

General Manager, New York Workshop

Connie Peterson is the General Manager of The Jim Henson Company's New York Workshop - the Emmy, BAFTA and Peabody Award-winning facility that has set the standard in the medium of puppetry for over 40 years with characters like the Muppets, the Fraggles and many more. Peterson has personally received seven Emmy Awards during her tenure at the Shop and in her position she is responsible for all aspects of every build, including television, film and stage productions.

Peterson joined The Jim Henson Company in 1980 to develop the costumes and manage the costume shop for the first "Sesame Street Live" arena show and soon made a specialty of making large character puppets like the Gorgs in "Fraggle Rock," and Bear from "Bear in the Big Blue House." In addition she spent two years in London's Jim Henson's Creature Shop™ to oversee the build of the puppets for classic fantasy feature film "Labyrinth."

Her more than thirty-five years of experience in television, stage and film include such highlights as stints with both the Santa Fe Opera and the New York Metropolitan Opera; the Broadway productions of "My Fair Lady," "Fiddler on the Roof," "A Chorus Line," and "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue;" television productions like "Saturday Night Live;" and the feature films "Dressed to Kill," the Academy Award winning "The Great Gatsby" as well as many Muppet films.
